Leicestershire Road Club
Founded in 1909, the Leicestershire Road Club is arguably the largest and most active club in Leicestershire and aims to encourage all forms of cycling, irrespective of age, sex, race or ability.
Catering for everyone from newcomers, to elite level racers, the club's activities include all forms of cycle racing, cycle touring and leisure cycle rides as well as varied social activities, including an annual dinner and trophy presentation.
Many activities are based around the club's own clubroom at Redhill island (just north of the town) including weekly rides and social club nights.
The Club is very active in local promotions, and each year organizes several competitive events attracting riders from all over the country to compete at varying distances both on the open road and on closed circuits such as Mallory Park.
We take a responsible attitude to cycling on the public highway by insisting that all active members belong to either British Cycling, or the Cyclists Touring Club, both of which provide government representation and insurance benefits.
The club is affiliated to British Cycling, Cycling Time Trials, Cyclists Touring Club, the British Schools Cycling Association and numerous other regional and local organizations.
The quality of the club was recognised in 2005 by becoming accepted as an approved Community Amateur Sports Club. Our registration number is CH0 2952.

Further recognition of the in depth quality and success of the club in the twenty first century was obtained in 2008 by the achievement of Sport England Clubmark status. This is the highest level of quality recognition for any amateur sports club whatever its sporting interest.
