The Leicestershire Road Club is Leicestershire's oldest and most prestigious cycling club.

Following a meeting of twelve cyclists held on February 19th, 1909 at the Bell Hotel, 26 Humberstone Gate, Leicester the Club began life as "The Leicestershire Road Clubs and Records Association". The name was modified to its current form two weeks later.

The first chairman was Mr H.E. Winks, and at a general meeting on April 16th 1909, Mr Hales was nominated to be the first President, but never took office. Mr H.E. Winks became President at the first Annual General Meeting the following year. 

The success of the Club had been seen, not just in growth, but also in the achievements of its members in competition.  Leicestershire Road Club has a long and proud record of competition success and it is for this that we are most famous. This has come to our riders with local, district and National Championship medals.  Several of our riders have become Professional riders, yet still retained their membership.

The club continues to thrive.  In two fantastic achievements, Club members Lucy Garner and Dan McClay have become World Champions.  On 15th August 2010, Dan McClay became Junior World Madison Track Champion.  Then, on 23rd September 2011, Lucy Garner became Junior World Women's Road Race Champion.
